SQAA conference on the meaning and goals of self-evaluation processes

ON 26 NOVEMBER 2019 SQAA HELD THE CONFERENCE FOR MEMBERS OF SELF-EVALUATION GROUPS AND SUPPORT SERVICES OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AND VOCATIONAL COLLEGES TO DISCUSS THE SIGNIFICANCE, THE GOALS, AS WELL AS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR SELF-EVALUATION PROCEDURES. THE STARTING POINT FOR THE DISCUSSION WERE THE OUTCOMES OF THE INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM ANALYSIS CONDUCTED BY THE SQAA.

The article “Self-evaluation Practices in Higher Education” by mag. Jernej Širok from SQAA served as the starting point for a panel discussion with contributions of mag. Jernej Širok, prof. dr. Ivan Svetlik, member of the SQAA Council, Alen Brkić, former member of the SQAA Council, Katja Kamšek Žibert, University of Ljubljana, mag. Maja Zalokar, B&B Higher Vocational College and Klemen Šubic, SQAA. During the discussion, the participants exchanged views on the form and key focuses of the self-evaluation reports, the purpose and goals of self-evaluation, and the key addressees of self-evaluation, highlighting the specifics of the treatment of smaller higher education institutions and the role of SQAA.

The meeting was enriched by the introduction of SQAA Director dr. Franci Demšar, who spoke about the activities of SQAA and plans for the future, EQAR Director Colin Tück, who demonstrated the use of the DEQAR database, and the Head of the Evaluation Department at ENQA, Goran Đaković, who presented the role of ENQA in the evaluation of the members of this association.
