Director of the Agency at the 8th Eurasian Forum: Use of AI in External Quality Assurance

On 26 September, the Director of NAKVIS, Dr. Franci Demšar, participated in the 8th Eurasian Forum on Quality Assurance in Higher Education Strategies under Pressure: New Technologies and Challenges for Universities, organized by the Kazakh Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA). As an IQAA Supervisory Board Member, he presented the potential and scope of artificial intelligence in the agency’s internal work processes. As part of the visit, he also attended the meeting of the Supervisory Board, which is composed of representatives of the academic community, accreditation agencies, and employers, whose function is to determine the Agency’s priorities and long-term plans, as well as to approve IQAA’s development strategies.

During his speech, the director outlined how the agency is developing and applying AI tools in various stages of accreditation and evaluation procedures, reviewing the stylistic and terminological accuracy of reports, assessing follow-up reports, preparing thematic analyses, and supporting the internal information system.

Dr. Demšar also highlighted the importance of European and international strategic documents that guide the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence in education, as well as the challenges posed by new legislation and privacy considerations.

The visit represents a continuation of close cooperation between NAKVIS and IQAA, strengthening the exchange of experiences and good practices in the use of AI-based tools to support quality assurance in higher education.
