NAKVIS Director at an International Conference on Higher Education, Research and Innovation in the Euro-Mediterranean Area

The Director of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, Dr Franci Demšar, attended an international scientific conference on higher education, research and innovation in the Euro-Mediterranean area, held on 23 and 24 June 2026 in Tunis. The conference took place at the headquarters of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and was organised in cooperation with EMUNI University, ALECSO and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed).

The event provided a forum for discussion on the role of higher education, research and innovation in strengthening Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. Particular attention was devoted to sustainability, open science, green careers, academic mobility, research excellence and the development of a more connected Euro-Mediterranean higher education and research area.

Through his introductory lecture on the Bologna Process, Dr Demšar made an important contribution to the discussion on the development of the European Higher Education Area and on the importance of comparability, transparency and quality in higher education. The participation of NAKVIS in the event also contributed to the exchange of experience in quality assurance in higher education and to the further strengthening of international cooperation.
