NAKVIS Director at an International Conference on Quality Assurance in Prishtina

Dr Franci Demšar, Director of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (NAKVIS), attended the Fourth KAA Annual International Conference, Internal Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions: From Evaluation to Quality Culture, held in Prishtina on 29 September 2026. The conference brought together representatives of higher education institutions, quality assurance and accreditation agencies, international experts, students and other stakeholders, with a particular focus on the role of internal quality assurance in supporting continuous improvement and developing a sustainable quality culture within higher education institutions.

In addition to keynote contributions addressing European perspectives on the role of quality assurance agencies and the development and assessment of internal quality assurance systems, the programme included two main panels. The first, The Role of Quality Assurance Agencies, examined the relationship between external and internal quality assurance and how external evaluation, recommendations and follow-up can support institutional improvement, while the second focused on institutional good practice in internal quality assurance, including student and staff involvement, programme monitoring and the integration of quality assurance into institutional strategic planning.

Dr Demšar participated in the first international panel, which brought together experts and senior representatives of European quality assurance agencies and organisations. In his contribution, he placed particular emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence in quality assurance and its integration into the work of quality assurance agencies.

The participation of the NAKVIS Director contributed to the international exchange of experience on the development of internal and external quality assurance systems and to further strengthening NAKVIS’s professional cooperation with European and regional partners.
