NAKVIS Director Becomes a Member of the International Governing Board of the NQAAE
Dr Franci Demšar, Director of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (NAKVIS), was appointed as a member of the International Governing Board of the National Quality Assurance Agency for Education (NQAAE).
The International Governing Board is the Agency’s highest international strategic advisory body and brings together internationally recognised experts and senior leaders from quality assurance agencies, accreditation organisations and other institutions in the field of education. Its mission is to provide independent strategic guidance and international expertise in support of the development of a transparent, credible and internationally recognised education quality assurance system.
Among other responsibilities, the Board advises on the development of quality assurance policies and procedures, accreditation and external evaluation, promotes the adoption of internationally recognised standards, principles and best practices, and contributes to strengthening transparency, institutional independence and public confidence in the quality assurance system.
In June 2026, NQAAE became a full member of the Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CEENQA), strengthening its cooperation with European quality assurance agencies, facilitating the exchange of professional experience and good practices, and supporting the further alignment of its activities with internationally recognised quality assurance principles and standards.
Dr Demšar’s appointment represents significant international recognition of his professional work and further strengthens the visibility and engagement of NAKVIS in international cooperation in the field of quality assurance in higher education.
